Shoes You Have to Have for Spring and Summer

It can be tough to stay abreast of the latest fashion trends when it comes to footwear, but that doesn’t make it any less important. These are a few of the biggest trends for spring and summer 2016 that you owe it yourself to get a jump on.

Tonal and Monochromatic Shoes

When it comes to sneakers, you have to either go all out with the color or keep it strictly minimal—there is no in between. All-white shoes are pretty hot in general, but last year Adidas set the sneaker world on fire with the all-white colorway of its ever-popular Stan Smiths. This year the company continues to cash in on the trend of monochromatic sneakers with even more tonal varieties of its iconic kicks. This is definitely one piece of white you’ll want to wear after Labor Day.

Sandals

This might seem like a bit of a no-brainer when it comes to summer, but the fashion gods have officially deemed sandals all the rage for the new season. Especially when it comes to slides, sandals are one of the hottest fads for spring and summer and were seen all over the runways at Fashion Week this year. It’s much more than just Birkenstocks, as major designers are putting their own spin on the sandal with everyone from Gucci to Valentino slipping into the new look.

Designer Collaborations

One craze for 2016 will be even more designer collaborations. Adidas is continuing its run of high-profile partnerships including its work with Jeremy Scott (pictured top) along with new collaborations with Yohji Yamamoto and Rick Owens. Its high fashion-meets-high tops and whether it’s Scott’s wingtips or the layered leather and statement soles of Owens, these are must haves for fashion-forward sneakerheads.

Desert Boots

It’s hard to beat a good pair of boots and we love that dress boots are expected to continue their popularity throughout 2016. And there’s no better boot for the summer than the classic desert boot. Seeing as they were designed for the dry and arid climes of the North African desert, it’s no surprise that this is one pair of shoes that’s perfect for the summer heat. This collection of designer shoes gave us some inspiration for our summer boots, as we’re fond of the the dyed-suede option that lets us kill a couple fashion birds with one stone. Desert boots are both stylish and versatile, pairing well with either suits, slacks, or a pair of jeans, making them a must have for any man’s closet.

Classic Skate Shoes

It’s no secret that skate shoes are back in style, but we’re not talking about those chunky old Etnies you wore when you were learning to ollie for the first time. We’re talking about old-school classics and there’s none better than Vans. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the staple skate shoe, and the company is going big for its golden year. From the Sk8-Hi to its collaboration with Supreme to the iconic Old Skools, Vans is riding high when it comes to hipness. These shoes are essential for spring and summer, and with their price-point you can’t afford not to have a pair.
