Concert: Sleigh Bells – Explosive Fun

If you’ve seen Sleigh Bells perform live—

You know no one has ever been underwhelmed by their performance. Sleigh Bells’ Alexis Krauss & Derek Miller put on a hard hitting show (And quite honestly a difficult show to photograph [But not impossible]). The extreme lights, wild hair, crowd surfing, and untamed moves can hardly be captured outside of the live performance accurately.

If you’re only a casual fan, you realise with each song, you just haven’t been paying attention enough because they already have a multitude of fresh tracks. Formed in Boston in 2008, and now with 4 studio albums, Sleigh Bells have quickly become the powerhouse of the Noise Pop genre. At the Newport Music Hall performance in Columbus, OH, their setlist consisted of fifteen perfectly balanced songs with eight being alternative radio hits. Sets can be arranged with a slow song or two, giving the performers a break—that’s just not their style.

The slowest of the songs– Loyal for, and I Can Only Stare, granted Alexis’ vocal cords no respite. The former, welcomed back multi-talented opener Tunde Olaniran back to the stage. This was Tunde’s back up performers’ Rachelle & Aurora’s final performance of the tour. As a result, a heartfelt send off with flowers and hugs ensued.

Sleigh Bells took on the role of the skilled demolitions expert, filling the venue with kinetic energy, and blasts of light and sound.
