Vehicle

The first thing you’ll need to decide on is the vehicle you’ll be taking. Will you take your own car? If you’ve recently purchased something from a company like https://www.lmc-cars.co.uk/locations/essex then you might want to take it for a spin and get some use from it. Otherwise you might decide to hire a convertible from a local company so you can feel the wind in your hair. If you’re going to be away for a longer time, you might decide to hire a camper van or RV. The kind of car you decide on will have a big impact on your overall trip so choose wisely.

Route

Your point to consider is which route will you take on your trip. Have a think about which sights you want to see and the things you want to do and use that to build your route. Once you know where you’re going to you can check things like traffic updates and warnings and make sure there’s nothing closed ahead of time. You can’t always avoid being stuck in traffic but you can find out online if there will be planned maintenance and other issues. If you’re going to be staying in AirBnBs, campsites, hotels and motels then you’ll need to plan your route around these too.

Accommodation

Speaking of accommodation, this is also something to consider. If you’ll be staying in an RV then you can essentially stay anywhere as long as it’s safe and legal. Joining RV membership clubs can offer significant benefits, such as discounts on campgrounds, making your trip more budget-friendly.

However it can be worth looking for campsites and RV parks where there are showers, wifi and electricity hookups which will make your stay more comfortable. Have everything planned ahead, be sure to book these things before you leave as in the high season especially, there’s no guarantee you’ll find somewhere to stop if you leave it to chance.

Food

We all like to indulge a little when we’re travelling,  but it doesn’t need to cost a fortune. If you’re on a budget then simply bring a picnic, stop at the supermarket for food each day and store it in an electric car cool box. You can then call into restaurants, cafes and other eateries as and when you fancy them, one or two evenings you could even go somewhere a little nicer or to an establishment, you’ve always wanted to visit to make your trip extra special.

Emergencies

It’s always worth being prepared for emergencies as you never know what might happen. Make sure you have breakdown cover so you can be rescued if needs be, and have some supplies in the car. Food, and especially water at this time of year in case you’re stuck for a long time.
