If your car is making a horrible noise, the seats are covered with stains, and the fuel lasts no longer than one day, it’s time to get a new car. We understand that getting a new car is an expensive game, but so is trying to run one that isn’t even worth running!
If you are going to bite the bullet and accept that you need a new car, you then need to figure out what car it is that you’re going to want. There’s so many out there to choose from, and trust us, some are a lot better than others. A lot of people waste thousands of pounds on a car that’s just not good for their needs, or that’s just not good in general! Now, we definitely don’t want this happening to you, so we’ve got some great ways for you to find out what your next car should be. Have a read on to find out more.
Used Vs New
This is the debate that has long gone on for a lot of people. Some are adamant that a used car is the best way to go. But some prefer the plush life of a brand new car. Which is understandable, new cars are really good, and a lot of people just simply enjoy the new car smell! But there is obviously going to be a nasty price tag with a brand new car. Whether you get it directly from the dealership, or whether you go through third party, you’re going to be spending a fortune. If you go through third party and purchase a car that is say a few weeks old, and it has been drove the the garage, therefore putting miles on it, the price you will have to pay will drop considerably. So, if you were looking to buy a brand new car without having to pay the price tag, this might be an option for you. The only thing you then need to think about with a new car is the additional costs that are going to come with it. For one, the insurance is going to be a bit higher, especially if you’re buying this car for a young driver for example. It won’t be too much, but if you’re already splashing out on the car, you want to try and save as much money as possible.
A used car is obviously going to be cheaper, but is it going to be more reliable? Probably not. Used cars are so unpredictable. People find the cheapest deal they can, give it a little test drive, and assume it’s going to be good for the duration of owning the car. Well, a few weeks later the engine could just as easily pack in. Always make sure you’re still spending a lot on a used car, or at least taking someone with you who knows enough about cars to know whether the one you’re thinking about buying is going to be any good for you.
What Are Your Needs
If you’re getting a new car, but you only drive to the school, shops, and maybe to a family friends house, then there’s really no need to splash on an expensive car. In fact, there’s really no need to worry about what type of car you’re having either. All you need to do is find one that is going to be reliable, and easily get you from A to B. If you have a family, your needs are going to change. You’re obviously going to want something with a lot of space, and a lot of comfort. An SUV might be the best thing for a family car, especially as a lot of the new ones are actually really economical and comfy. If you’re going long distances all of the time, then don’t focus too much on design. You need to be thinking about the mileage you’re doing, and how your new car is going to compete with that.
Making It Yours
Once you get a car, you want to think about ways that you can actually make it yours. We’re not talking about the registration of the car, the garage should be able to sort all of that for you. We’re talking about looking how to find your perfect private reg as a way of sort of personalising the car. They do look good, and some are really not that expensive to buy if you go for a cheaper version. You can then think about things like adding two mini TV screens to the back of the front two chairs. That was if you do have children on board, you know they’re not going to be driving you mad the whole journey, they’ll be enchanted by the TV’s!
Price Wise
As we’ve said, all of this is going to be one big cost that you’re probably not going to be able to get away from. So think about how much you actually want to spend. The cheaper you go, the worse you’re going to get. Try not to compromise quality due to the cost. You’ll only end up spending more money further down the line to try and fix it. But at the same time, you don’t want to try and break the bank to try and afford something that you just really can’t. So many young people and adults alike try this, it’s one of the main reasons why so many people across the country are in debt. Even if the cost of the car can be afforded, the running might not be. So always make sure you’re doing your research into every aspect of expenses that the car will bring. Fuel is the biggest one, so make sure the car is as economical as possible if you wish to save a nice amount of money in the long run, rather than the short term.
So, do you have any ideas about what you would like your next car to be? We’d love to know if you have any ideas.
