Iggy Pop for Sailor Jerry Clothing

‘Good work ain’t cheap, cheap work ain’t good’, that was the motto of Norman ‘Sailor Jerry’ Collins, the master of the ‘old school’ Navy tattooing and the guy who inspired Sailor Jerry Rum.

Norman spent his early adult years travelling the world with the US Navy and trips to South-East Asia together with his nautical know-how inspired his now much loved (and copied) tattoo designs.

After Norman’s death in the early Seventies, and with a dedication to keep the ‘Sailor Jerry’ name alive, two of his protégés Ed Hardy and Mike Malone branched out into the world of fashion (and drink). Now each year they ask an icon of popular culture to design a range of clothing that combines Norman’s original ethos together with their own unique personality and style.

This year they’ve bagged a really good one and when it comes to icons they don’t come much bigger and badder than Iggy Pop. The only real issue was that over the last 40+ years rocking the world with The Stooges, David Bowie and acting in films with Johnny Depp, Iggy has been famous for well, not really wearing that much.

Fear not. As you can see from the video, the man who would stay awake for 3 days, dance on broken glass, and who is now approaching his 70th birthday has a keen eye when it comes to Fashion and style. His ‘Flash’ collection is a proper blend of old school rock & roll mixed, biker chic and Iggy’s insatiable Lust for Life.. oh and tattoo’s too.
