Let’s face it: in today’s economy, we could all do with a little extra money. Alas, finding that money can be a challenge. It seems that the majority of opportunities we have to supplement our income are soul-destroying, time-consuming tasks that have us questioning whether we really need that extra money in our bank accounts.
There are, however, some fun and creative ways to supplement your income too. These may require slightly more work than getting a delivery job, but they’ll also be much more rewarding. With that being said, let’s take a look at the options in more detail.
Work at a Market
Have plenty of old clothes or goods in your house? Or fancy the challenge of finding a bargain in a charity shop and then selling it for more money? Then you may be perfectly suited to work at a market. This can be a lot of fun, especially if you choose a cool market, since they usually have drinks and music. It’s a good atmosphere. Plus, you’ll meet plenty of interesting people! And once the day is over, you might have a bunch of money in your back pocket, too.
Become a DJ
People like to dance. You like to play music. The logical conclusion is for you to become a DJ. OK, it’s not quite that easy. You’ll need to have a good ear for what people like to hear, and you’ll have to learn how to mix. Plus, you’ll have to compete with a lot of other people who want to be DJs, too. But is it possible? Absolutely. You won’t make mega money, and it’s not like you’ll be headlining a club (bar work is more feasible). But still, you’ll be making money via music, and that’s not something a lot of people can say.
Work as a Tattoo Artist
Tattoos are hugely popular right now, and that’s not going to change anytime soon. Indeed, they’re getting more popular, since they’re now moving beyond the ‘cool’ cities into all corners of the globe. If you’ve got an artistic mind and a steady hand, then you may consider becoming a tattoo artist. You’ll need to invest in some tattoo supplies and work on perfecting your craft. Once you have a style, you can begin advertising your services. If you’re good enough, then people will hire you.
Host an Event
Hosting an event is another way to supplement your income. There’s no shortage of event types you can host. For example, you might find that setting up your own vintage market — rather than simply working at one, as we mentioned above — is the way to go. You could also host your own party and charge people entry (provided it’s a good party!), or make money by selling drinks. Ultimately, people want to do things, so there’s a market for cool events. You just need to get creative and think outside the box a little. You never know what you might come up, or where it might lead to.
