Reading 2013 Festival Preview

By the time we get to August we’re on the home straight as far as festivals in the UK are concerned. There is though, still one big one lurking around the corner. In the past Reading was always regarded as the ‘rock’ festival in the country, but recently the festival has diversified themselves in to more expansive genres of music.

Reading Festival 2013 - Nine Inch Nails

This year the Dance Stage is being extended to last the full 3 days as opposed to previous years one day, and in 2013 it’s headlined by Sub Focus, Magnetic Man & Knife Party. There is also a new 1Xtra stage boasting Wretch 32, Action Bronson, Toddla T Sound.

Some acts need no introduction (Green Day, Eminem, Biffy Clyro), but readying themselves for the release of ‘Hesitation Marks’ their first release in five years Nine Inch Nails could be one of the highlights of the weekend. The main stage will also bear witness to Foals who have had a colossal 2013, and System of a Down who aren’t ones to disappoint when it comes to a live show.

The Lock-Up stage also has an extra day filled with a swarm of heavier acts including the new Enter Shikari Sound System. There is also a good many up n’ coming bands on the bill this year. Who knows you could well see a future headliner way lower down on the bill this year. Glasgow’s CHVRCHES who release their debut effort in September and Disclosure who have pretty much taken over the globe since they were announce on the bill could both be set for bigger returns one day.

There is tons going on and we’ve barely scratched the surface, whatever your taste in music, 2013’s festival should be a good one. Oh, and don’t forget your suncream.

I try to write knowledgeable things about music. Everything else I get quite annoyed about. Arsenal fan. Terrible swimmer.
