YultYULT feat.Tanya Auclair

Current / forthcoming releases
Yult have just released the The Animal Inside EP

Who are your influences?
The sun, the life, the death. Everything but the kitchen sink.

Interesting Fact?
If you give Tomatom a guitar he can tell you the time.

Plans for the rest of 2011?
Touring and writing new material. Tanya is working on a live film score and putting out her 2nd solo EP in May.

YULT just produced remixes for Middleman and Stac wich will be released soon, and started a new collaboration with vocalist/producer Natural Self.

The KindlingThe Kindling

Current / forthcoming releases
From out of the wreckage, a 4 track self released.

Who are your influences?
Music wise – Tom Waits for his asylum growls, Low for somehow stopping time, Sparklehorse for all the animal surealism, Roy Orbison for the really high notes, Nina Nastasia for plucking out the melodies we never knew we knew, Dirty Three for walking the tightrope blindfolded drunk and dizzy, Calexico for being the only band I heard that made the splash cymbal cool!, all those early blues people, oh and Smog for the really low notes..

Interesting Fact?
I recently discovered that ducks apparently sleep with one eye open, one side of the brain at a time!? That’s a pretty interesting fact!

Plans for the rest of 2011?
Really busy year ahead. Aiming to put together at least another Kindling EP, or even better enough for a whole album! We should be crawling out from our tree houses and wigwams to play some debut live dates too. Can’t wait!

Hysterical InjuryHysterical Injury

Brief Bio (twitter size): Bath-based duo Annie Gardiner (bass, vocals) and Lee Stone (drums) make catchy racket…

Current / forthcoming releases
Our Lives Are A Futuristic Nightmare EP now out
Debut album planned this year – title to be confirmed – labels should feel free to get in touch.

Who are your influences?
It changes all the time… right at the moment, between us, we’re name checking Broadcast, Kristin Hersh, The Knife, Raging Speedhorn, Type O Negative, and as much Italo Disco as Lee can handle. Plus activists and artists outside of music all the time.

Interesting Fact?
This seems to be the only appropriate spot to mention that we’ve got a free track up for download at the moment on our Facebook Merch tab… anyone can download it, but they need a password from the back page of the current issue of our local listings mag, ‘Venue’ – so ask a mate in Bath or Bristol to buy one for you if you’re not in the area!

It was our contribution to the campaign to save the magazine from closure, which, brilliantly, seems to have worked!

Plans for the rest of 2011?
Gigging as much as possible and getting that album ready.

Perhaps ContractionPerhaps Contraption

Formed in Bristol in 2006, Perhaps Contraption began life as an avant-rock collective, embracing the “Rock in Opposition” movement & fusing it with Dada, English eccentricity & interactive theatre.

A DIY approach is deeply embedded within the collective, alongside & an eagerness to produce challenging, “difficult” yet populist stuff.

After many years of tweaking & gigging, the sprawling avant-rock monolith “sludge & tripe” was self-released in 2010.

Following explosive appearances at Glastonbury & Burning Man, the collective has shifted to embrace anti-folk & woodwind, which features on the latest LP “Business”.

The next step in the device’s evolution is a fully mobile, fully acoustic art-marching band.

Current / forthcoming releases
Business (released as limited edition handmade CD in bespoke latex packaging April 25th), Life Glug (a third LP comprised of improvisations and mathematic material) and Squier Squier(solo acoustic album).

Who are your influences?
RIO, Zappa, Beefheart, Dada, Marching Bands, Interactive theatre,Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and Henry Cow,

Interesting Fact?
Musical Director Squier Squier is also a professional Sand Sculptor.
The new mobile device features a mutant Victorian pram drum kit.

Plans for the rest of 2011?
Completing our third LP comprised of improvisations from 2 years ago,
a host of walkabout shows with the new “mobile device” art marching band,
and an American tour, culminating in a string of shows Burning man, in the Black Rock Desert….
