It must have been a tough decision when Jude Law got the call from his agent to star in this short film to promote Johnnie Walker Blue Label whiskey. “It’s first class flights to Italy, 3 days filming on an exquisite private yacht, dancing with beautiful girls, oh and you’ll be sipping the finest whiskey all day too.”
The Gentlemen’s Wager is a playful little piece, directed effortlessly by Jake Scott and also starring the brilliant Italian actor/Director Giancarlo Giannini. As far as adverts go, it’s a lot more sophisticated than usual, which I’m sure has been created to reflect Johnnie Walker Blue Label’s impeccable pedigree. The Whiskey itself is made to commemorate Alexander Walker’s 1867 Old Highland Whisky and is blended from some of the best (and rarest) whiskies on the planet, the main malt used being ‘Royal Lochnagar’, which is distilled near the Queens holiday home in Balmoral.
Each bottle is individually numbered and is the ultimate in Scotch Whisky, it’s not cheap, but then not all the best things in life are free.
