The Best New Movies to Watch to Avoid Scary Films in the Leadup to Halloween

With Halloween fast approaching, the TV is sure to be packed with lots of scary movies. However, while horror movies do have a huge cult following, not everybody loves to get a scare out of their entertainment! So, what alternatives do you have if scary movies just aren’t your thing?

Here, we’ll look at some of the best new movies to watch to avoid scary movies in the leadup to Halloween.

Thor Ragnarok

Although Avengers Infinity War has become the must-see movie of 2018, those who haven’t caught up with the storyline so far may want to start with Thor Ragnarok. The sequel sees Chris Hemsworth back as the Nordic God of Thunder, Thor, who is now imprisoned without his famous hammer, in a far-away part of the universe.

It is set after the Avengers: Age of Ultron, which came out in 2015. So, if you’re yet to catch up on Thor’s adventures, you’ll definitely want to add this to your watch list.

Mowgli

If you fancy heading to the cinema, there’s a brand-new adaptation of the Jungle Book due out on October 19th. Mowgli is directed by Andy Serkis and features the voices of some very famous stars such as Christian Bale and Benedict Cumberbatch.

While there have been other adaptations of the film released, including an official one from Disney, this is still going to be worth a watch, especially with the kids.

The Greatest Showman

Few people have anything negative to say about The Greatest Showman. What better way to take your mind off Halloween than with a feel-good musical? The kids are guaranteed to love this one, but adults will also find the film surprisingly entertaining.

Hugh Jackman stars in this celebration of the birth of show business and has been praised for his role. If you haven’t seen it yet, add this to your alternative Halloween watch list.

Rampage

If you’re looking for something a little more action packed, Rampage could be the movie for you. Starring the Rock, you know it’s going to be an adrenaline-fuelled movie! A rogue genetic experiment sees an ape, wolf and numerous other animals grow to enormous proportions. Similar to King Kong, this movie will have you on the edge of your seat!

As you can see, there’s a lot of alternative movies you can enjoy this Halloween if you’re not a fan of scary films. The above are just a small selection of family-friendly films you’ll want to consider.
