Do you want to take a break, but can’t spare any more than a weekend for now? There’s a solution to that! When you can’t go on a long vacation yet, you can still go for a weekend getaway. Even if it’s just a short vacation, it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be enjoyable.
Here are a few quick tips you can do to maximize your weekend getaway:
Set the budget.
How much are you willing to spend? This will determine where you can go and what you can do during the short getaway.
Set a budget you are comfortable with. If traveling with a group, make sure everyone agrees on it. Traveling doesn’t have to be expensive by the way. Work around the determined budget. It’s just right to set the amount from the get-go to avoid overspending.
Consider the travel time.
Remember this is just a short getaway. You only have a few days and you have to consider how long it will take you to your destination.
Many people forget to factor in their travel time. That’s why it’s important to plan your destination accordingly. Ask yourself, Is the travel time worth it? Would you still have enough time to rest and enjoy after reaching the destination? How early or how late should you leave the destination so you will arrive home on time as well?
Check how long the journey will be. If it’s land travel – check road and traffic conditions as they will affect the time you will reach your destination. If you spend too much time on the road this will have an impact on your other plans too.
Book ahead.
We’re talking about a weekend getaway so obviously the time is quite short. If you can book some of the things ahead like accommodations, restaurant reservations, tickets for activities, and so on – do it ahead of time.
It’s important to book ahead so you would have more time during the vacation. You get to skip the queue or the wait when you book in advance – meaning you have more time to enjoy during your vacation.
Imagine the time wasted when you spend it waiting or searching for something. Another advantage of checking ahead of time is – you would know the availability of the places you would want to go to and the things you would want to try.
Don’t stress!
Sometimes things do not just go according to the plan, but you know what? It’s okay. When there are changes, relax! It’s a vacation after all. Don’t stress out yourself too much when you veer away from your itinerary.
It’s good to have a plan to maximize the short time that you have but it’s also okay when you change some details during the vacation. You’re meant to enjoy the break and not stress over it. Understand that some things may not go as planned so let go of the things you can’t control.
It’s perfectly alright to be spontaneous also, you don’t have to follow everything in the plan. What’s more important – you and your companions are enjoying the trip even though it’s just a short one.
And there you have it! Four quick tips to remember when you are planning for a short weekend getaway:Set the budget, factor in the travel time, book ahead, and lastly – don’t stress! So go on and enjoy your weekend!
