NY Fashion Week 2013 Day two

The second day of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Fall 2013 was truly remarkable.

The Czar by Cesar Galindo collection was nothing short of innovatively pleasing. Bubble skirts and layering were incorporated into some of the looks to add just the right touch of subtle exuberance. “I did convertible clothing,” Galindo said during a quick interview, “the coats are actually convertible…you could take the sleeves off, take the hoodie off, and play with it.”

“Eternal romantic nights shrouded in illusion, seduction and deception”, as Carmen Marc Valvo’s Run of Show stated, perfectly embodied the dark, alluring, and elegant collection. The line comprised garments in velvet, leather, lace, and silk in mostly a black, purple and fuchsia color palette. All looks were completed with Carmen Marc Valvo’s beautiful shoes, mainly Mary-Janes.

Decadent jewel tones rocked the runway for Noon by Noon, and flowing silhouettes added to the ladylike elegance of the show. Bows, knit caps, and tights created a collection that combined the chicest elements of femininity. The atypically rich, bright color scheme only magnified the precise shapes and the billowing coats and dresses.

Patterned coats, tomboy-ish silhouettes, and structured designs were a few of the many highlights during Rebecca Minkoff’s show. Her collection consisted of a multitude of colors, proving that she does not stick to the traditional winter palette; neon made some surprisingly well-executed appearances, and fit in just as seamlessly as the typical grays.

The collection from Nicole Miller (above) astounded audiences with dark sophistication which was only amplified by impeccable tailoring and accessorizing. Between the darker pieces Miller introduced plaid patterns and unusual draping techniques; both were extremely well-executed.
