NY Fashion Week 2013 Day Three

Feminine strength and power gracefully marched down the runway as Prabal Gurung unveiled his military-inspired collection. The line came mainly in an army green, deep reds and blues, and black color palette. Each look beautifully married combat and elegance to reflect the spirit of women in the armed forces. “I’m a firm believer that more women in power is better for the world,” the designer said in an interview, and this line definitely reflected that empowerment.

Mara Hoffman’s bright collection was a refreshing burst of energy to the day. Geometric prints and bold patterns in vibrant pink, orange, yellow and blue, balanced with grey and black, brought an invigorating ambiance. This light and flowy line left us inspired to be more daring with prints and free-spirited.

Inspired by the golden aura of The Hall of Mirrors, Rafael Cennamo presented his exquisite “21 Shades of Gold” collection. From gold metallic scroll embroidered dresses to chantilly lace floor length skirts, each look had a touch of couture, and was truly a work of art. Intricate head-pieces completed the looks, and overall left the audience in awe and extremely pleased.

Leather and sheer silhouettes dominated the runway for the Katya collection; twilight patterns and navy blue were extremely prevalent throughout the entire line. Fur and layers were both foundational elements of the show, and compromised most of the theme. Overall, Katya did an astounding job of demonstrating standout patterns and tailoring.

Venexiana ended the day with her stunning dress and evening gown collection. The looks came in a variety of fabrics, such as velvet, lace, satin and fur, and in colors ranging from plum and fuchsia to black and metallic gold/silver. Crystal detailing, sequins, intricate beading, and snakeskin with fur combination were prevalent elements in this line.
