Jalapeños in Your Wine? PizzaExpress Leans Into the Viral ‘Spicy Savvy B’ Trend

When I last visited PizzaExpress in Norwich to check out their 60th anniversary menu you can read that piece here, I was reminded just how well the brand blends familiarity with the occasional curveball. The American Hot was still as bold as I remembered, the atmosphere relaxed, and the new seasonal twists felt just right.

Now, PizzaExpress is back with another surprise – this time, in your wine glass.

They’ve become the first high street restaurant in the UK to officially add the viral jalapeño Sauvignon Blanc trend to the menu. If you’ve been anywhere near TikTok recently, you’ll have seen the craze: people dropping slices of jalapeño into chilled Sauvignon Blanc for a drink that’s crisp, spicy, and slightly unexpected. What started online has now landed in your local pizzeria – and it’s surprisingly on-brand.

For £1.50, you can now add a side of jalapeños to any glass of Sauvignon Blanc at PizzaExpress. But this isn’t a garnish for your pizza – it’s to stir directly into your wine.

“The jalapeño Sauvignon Blanc craze has taken off online, and we’re all about bringing innovative, bold flavours to the table,” said a PizzaExpress spokesperson. “Now our pizza (and jalapeño) fans can officially order it. Our recommendation: pair it with our famous American Hot for the full fiery experience.”

It makes perfect sense. The American Hot – that pepperoni and jalapeño classic – has always delivered a spicy kick, and matching it with a wine that turns up the heat feels like a natural evolution. It’s a pairing designed for flavour chasers and curious foodies alike.

Whether you’re genuinely intrigued or just want to try it for the story, the jalapeño Sauvignon Blanc is now available in PizzaExpress restaurants nationwide. Served sweet, sharp, and with a chilli-fuelled twist, it could well be the unexpected summer hit of 2025.

Go on – give it a try. Just maybe keep a glass of water nearby.
