It’s 2018 and in fashion a New Year means out with the old and in with the new! London Fashion Week Mens has just been and gone and with it a whole host of inspiration for the coming year.
Brand Beckham
You may not know it but Victoria is no longer the only Beckham with their own fashion label and one of London Fashion Weeks big hits was a brand called Kent & Curwen. They’ve been grabbing the headlines recently as they are now owned by none other her other ex-footballing half, David Beckham.
The label itself has been around since 1926 and their distinctive style of cricket sweaters and workhouse shirts is certain to be a big winner this year. At the moment David seems happy to do a spot of modelling, but who knows maybe in the future he’ll get our his notepad and do a few designs like his missus?
Northern Soul Style
If you’re too young to remember it the first time don’t worry, Northern Soul style is back and those masters of fashion Ben Sherman (along with Henry Holland) stormed into London Fashion Week this January like Dobie Gray singing ‘Out on the Floor’.
Ben Sherman’s capsule collection was premiered at beautiful Somerset house and featured 29 different pieces from knitted polos, button-down shirts, to T-shirts, denim, knitwear, trousers and tracksuits and coats.
All the models had a good old knees up at the end of the catwalk show (see above) and it was like Wigan Pier 1973 all over again. They even had legendary Northern Soul DJ / promoter Eddie Piller there too!
Take the Weather with you
There’s an old saying,’There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing and away from the London lights, catwalks and cappuccino’s let’s face facts, it’s blooming freeeeezing at the moment. Probably the most important item of clothing you can buy this time of year is a decent warm coat. If like me you love a bit of fur round your neck some of the best mens Parka Coats are made right here in the UK by Bellfield.
Aside from the warming aspect their coats are totally on trend for 2018 and look great everywhere from the first date to the last bus home. If you get a chance have a look at their other gear too.
Not A Has-Beanie
If you want to get ahead, get a hat and the beanie is back! Never has been covering your bonce like a tea-cosy been so stylish and the cool thing is that there’s some awesome designs out there to make you stand out from the crowd. For absolute style check out Moncler Gamme Bleu’s striped beanie an ideal (if slightly pricey $375) combination for your Parka coat or if that’s a bit over your budget go for maximum home-made effect and get your Nan to knit one!
We’ll be looking at the fashions for 2018 in more detail soon, but in the meantime if you are looking for more fashion inspiration visit our Fashion section here and don’t forget to wrap up warm!
