WanderOn Reviews of Thailand: Five Friends, Four Islands and Ultimate Full Moon Party

Imagine standing on a beach at midnight with neon paint on your face, a fire dancer spinning a few steps away and your four best friends screaming the lyrics next to you. That was us on Full Moon night in Thailand, and we’re still not over it.

Five friends, nine days, four islands and our epic party experience on full moon in Thailand. That was our September 2026 8N-9D trip with WanderOn, the “Full Moon & Koh Tao: Special Thailand Group Trip.” Rohan, Meghna, Karthik, Divya and I had talked about Thailand for years, and this time we picked the dates and just went for it. It turned out better than anything we had imagined.

Before booking, we read a lot of WanderOn reviews, mostly because Divya researches everything before she goes on any trip: the arrangements, the location, the requirements, the food, everything!

By the time we landed in Phuket, we knew what to expect. Almost.

Meet the Crew (and Our Captain)

Simran Sharma, our Trip Captain, met us at the airport, and by dinner Simran already knew who was the planner (Divya), who was the snacker (Meghna) and who would take the most photos (me). This perfectly matched what we had read in Thailand reviews from other groups, that a good captain makes the whole trip easy. We also met the rest of the group, and by the end of day one, we were already sharing snacks and playlists.

Phi Phi: Where Karthik Forgot He Was Scared of Water

Day two was the Phi Phi speedboat tour from Krabi. The water was the kind of blue you only see in wallpapers. We stopped at Pileh Lagoon, Monkey Beach and Viking Cave, and we snorkelled too.

Karthik had been telling us all week that he was scared of water and would stay on the boat. Once he tried snorkelling, he didn’t want to stop. He was the last one to climb back onto the boat, and he came back asking when we could do it again. Lunch was included, so nobody had to hunt for food, which for our group is a miracle.

Koh Tao: My First Dive and Meghna’s Coconut Break

The ferry to Koh Tao was a long ride, so we played antakshari. Simran joined in, and we sang every wrong lyric with full confidence.

We had added scuba diving to our Thailand trip package at an extra cost. Divya and I signed up along with two others from our group. I was nervous while putting on the gear, but the instructor was very patient and repeated every signal twice. Then I went under and saw coral and fish in every colour, and I forgot all about being nervous. Meghna stayed back on the beach with a coconut and says it was the smartest decision of the trip.

Full Moon Night: Neon, Fire and Rohan’s New Friends

This was the night we built the whole trip around. We took the ferry from Koh Samui to Haad Rin Beach, and the place was glowing with neon paint, live DJs and fire shows. People from every country were dancing together.

Simran gave us one simple rule: stay in pairs. We followed it, mostly. Rohan wandered off for twenty minutes and came back with three new friends and a painted face. The return ferry was included, so getting back was easy. We reached the hotel and fell asleep within minutes.

Five Friends, Four Islands, Zero Missed Ferries

Before the trip, our biggest question was the number of ferries and transfers. One wrong timing can change a whole island day, and we are five friends who take a long time to leave the room.

But at the end, it all worked out. Many Thailand travel reviews would say to you that island hopping depends on good planning, and now we understand because we saw why. Simran and the team had every ferry time, pickup and transfer sorted, so all we had to do was show up with our bags.

Beach Clubs, Old Town and One Last Sunset

On Samui we went to the beach fire show and Ark Bar. The drop from the hotel was included, and we walked back together as one very loud group.

Our last full day in Phuket started in Old Town, with its colourful buildings, cute cafes and way too many photos. Then we went to the day club (entry was included) for our final sunset. Cold drinks, good music and five friends on one sofa saying “we are doing this again.”

If Your Group Chat Is Still at “Let’s Plan Something”

A few things that worked for us:

  • Keep some cash for small shops and street food.
  • Wear shoes you don’t mind getting sandy at the Full Moon Party.
  • Use a waterproof pouch for your phone.
  • Book scuba early if you want it.
  • Keep the morning after the party relaxed.

If you’re reading Thailand reviews to decide, here’s ours. We came home tired and tanned, with the best Thailand group trip we’ve ever done. We’re really impressed by the planning and arrangements and ours was one of those WanderOn reviews we wish we had written sooner.

So pick the dates, send the message, and we are saying that someone from their team will definitely say “in” and you will have best Thailand trip experience of your life.
