Acting faces to watch in 2013 by Amelia Harvey

Amelia Harvey takes a look at some of the young acting stars destined to shine in 2013. Anna-Sophia Robb 19 year old Robb is no stranger to the big screen as she has been prominent since 2005 with roles in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Bridge to Terabithia. She’s set to become a household name in 2013 as she hits our TV screens as Carrie Bradshaw in The Carrie Diaries, the prequel to Sex in the City. Douglas Booth Handsome Brit Booth has already been seen on the small screens as Pip in Great Expectations and Boy George in Worried About the Boy, as well as some movie flops like Miley Cyrus’ LOL, but 2013 looks promising. He’s just finished filming Darren Aronofsky’s Noah and will star in the new adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. Sam Claflin LAMDA graduate Claflin’s acting career has been slowly ascending in recent years with supporting roles in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Snow White and The Huntsman. He will star in his biggest release to date in the Hunger Games follow up Catching Fire, where he plays Finnick Odair. Vanessa Kirby Having made her debut in 2011 in BBC’s The Hour followed by a role as Estella in the TV adaptation of Great Expectations, her star is on the rise. Currently starring in Ridley Scott’s TV mini-series Labyrinth, she is next set to star in The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman with Shia LaBeouf and in Richard Curtis’ About Time alongside Rachel McAdams. Daniel Bruhl Bruhl, while mostly recognised in German film, entered US filmgoers’ awareness with Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds. In 2013 he will play F1 racer Niki Lauda in Ron Howard’s Rush and appear in the thriller A Most Wanted Man. Zoe Kazan 2012 has been a good year for Kazan. Having been an actress and playwright for almost ten years, it was the indie Ruby Sparks that put her name on the map and also earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination. Her next role will be alongside Daniel Radcliffe in The F Word. Brie Larson Actress and singer Larson’s rise has been steady with roles in Diablo Cody’s United States of Tara, 21 Jump Street and Scott Pilgrim vs The World. In 2013 she appears in several films including Relanxious with Olivia Wilde, Squirrel to the Nuts alongside Owen Wilson, The Spectacular Now and Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut Don Jon’s Addiction. Rebel Wilson Australian comedian Rebel Wilson has had a successful few years with standout supporting roles in Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect, but she’s set to take centre stage in 2013. She will host the MTV Movie Awards, write her own TV series Super Fun Night, and star in Michael Bay’s Pain and Gain alongside Mark Wahlberg. Lucas Till Former Hannah Montana alum Lucas Till may have hit some bumps with films such as Battle: Los Angeles, but his role in X-Men: First Class may have signalled a promising path. In 2013 he stars in Stoker with Nicole Kidman and Paranoia alongside Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman. Adam Driver Best known as Adam in HBO’s Girls, Driver has already worked alongside major film actors in Lincoln and J. Edgar. In 2013 he appears in the Coen brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis, Frances Ha alongside Greta Gerwig, and the Australian drama Tracks. Nicolas Hoult Skins fans will recognise Hoult as Tony Stonem, but international audiences may remember him as the young boy in About A Boy. With roles in A Single Man and X-Men: First Class, he takes the lead in 2013’s Warm Bodies and Jack the Giant Slayer. He has also finished work on the fourth installment of Mad Max, set for release late 2013. Analeigh Tipton Best known for finishing third on America’s Next Top Model, Tipton has appeared in Crazy Stupid Love, the TV series Hung, and Damsels in Distress. Her upcoming projects include Warm Bodies, One Square Mile and Two Night Stand. Dane DeHaan With roles in True Blood, Law and Order: SVU, and Lawless, DeHaan’s career is on the rise. In 2013 he appears in The Place Beyond the Pines alongside Ryan Gosling, as Lucien Carr in Kill Your Darlings, and with Reese Witherspoon in Devil’s Knot. Max Irons Son of Jeremy Irons, Max Irons starred in Little Red Riding Hood. He will take a leading role in The Host (based on Twilight author Stephenie Meyer’s novel). He also stars as Antonio Vivaldi in Vivaldi and Edward IV in TV drama The White Queen. Hailee Steinfeld Oscar-nominated for True Grit, Steinfeld has a busy year ahead with roles in Romeo and Juliet, Can A Song Save Your Life?, Hateship Friendship and Gavin Hood’s sci-fi Ender’s Game.
