You wouldn’t normally associate Sweden with US style Country/Folk music, but with those long dark Scandinavian nights maybe the connection is more obvious than you think.
Their 1st album The Big Black and the Blue released in 2010 was a cosy little campfire number but with the accompaniment of a full band this time (including their Dad on bass), new release The Lion’s Roar is a much richer affair.
Produced by Bright Eyes member and producer Mike Mogis, and featuring guest appearances by Nate Walcott and main man Conor Oberst it’s released in the UK on 23rd January through über cool label Witchita Recordings.
This is the video for their brand new single ‘Emmylou’, it namechecks some of Countrys biggest stars including Johnny Cash, Gram Parsons and you guessed it, Emmylou Harris. I love it.
Filmed on Gram Parsons birthday in the Joshua Tree National Park, there’s not an IKEA, Volvo or Swedish cliché in sight.
